Nicole was 16 working at Publix as a cashier when Chad, 19, walked through her line with a soda. Nicole will never forget the first time she looked into his green eyes. They exchanged the usual "Hi, how are you?" lines, but then Chad started talking to Nicole's bag-girl very friendly as if they were friends (or more). Nicole let it go and forgot about him. The next day, a male coworker of hers randomly asked for her number; Nicole gave it to him in exchange for $5 to buy her lunch. Later that night, she got a phone call from a random number and when she answered, on the other end was the most backwoods country accented voice she had ever heard asking for her. Reluctantly, she revealed it was her when the boy on the phone said he had met her at Publix and wanted to get to know her. She had no recollection of meeting such a country bumpkin and assured him that he had the wrong number. He said he had gotten her number from the male coworker who had received it earlier that day, and that the coworker was actually his cousin. Not particularly interested in the male coworker, Nicole was convinced this guy was a total creep and was ready to be off the phone. Somehow, they continued to talk that night and then for the next few days before Nicole agreed to meet up with him at the mall while she was going shopping for her homecoming dress. When she pulled into the parking garage at Citrus Park mall, she saw a huge truck waiting and got super nervous, ready to bail. Then, when the truck door opened and the boy stepped out, Nicole realized that it was Chad, the boy she had laid her eyes on just a few days prior; she couldn't beleive it! His face did not match his voice! They hung out together every single day since then. 11.5 years later, they are still inseperable, Chad's accent has settled to mostly-normal, and Nicole has picked up a slightly country style and a love for wrestling. After 9 years of dating, they finally got engaged on Christmas Eve 2013 and now, 2.5 years later, they are finally tying the knot! |
